Shipping Policy

1. From Request to Delivery

Submit Engine Request:

  • Complete our online form with your engine details (make, model, year, or VIN).

Agent Contact & Quote:

  • An AutoPart Direct sales representative will contact you after receiving your form.
  • We will respond within 24 business hours with:
    • Engine availability and category (A, B, or C)
    • Full price including engine, crating, and freight
    • Declared Value Coverage options
  • Quotes are valid for 72 hours.

Placing Your Order:

  • Payment confirms your order and starts the delivery timeline.

Processing & Shipping:

  • We locate, inspect, and securely crate your engine.

The freight carrier will reach out to arrange delivery.


2. Shipping Method & Address Rules

  • Freight Shipping Only: Engines are shipped through specialized carriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx).
  • Commercial Address Required:
    • No residential addresses, apartments, or P.O. boxes
    • Delivery must be to a business location with:
      • A loading dock or forklift
      • Business name and physical address (no freight forwarders)
    • Drivers do not unload engines — you must have the necessary equipment or personnel.

    Conditional Exceptions:

    • If not shipping to a commercial address, we require:
      • Proof you have unloading equipment (e.g., forklift, crane), or
      • Confirmation that the delivery truck has an onboard forklift.
    • Our dispatch team will confirm unloading arrangements 24 hours before delivery.


    3. Delivery Timeline

    1. Agent Contact – We’ll call after you submit your request.
    2. Processing & Crating – Premium (A) engines: 3–7 business days; Standard (B/C) engines: 1–3 business days.
    3. Processing & Crating – Premium (A) engines: 3–7 business days; Standard (B/C) engines: 1–3 business days.

    Total after payment: Expect 3–4+ weeks for complete delivery.
    Note: Delays may occur due to weather, carrier issues, or customs.


    4. Costs & Fees

    • Crating Fee: $120 per engine (non-refundable) for shipping protection.
    • Freight Charges: Based on weight, distance, and carrier rates (included in your quote).
    • Declared Value Coverage:
      • Category A: Required
      • Category B/C: Highly recommended
      • Without coverage, liability is limited to $0.50 per pound.


    5. Receiving Your Engine

    Failure to follow these steps will void your warranty:

    • Inspect Before Signing: Look for dents, punctures, or water damage. Note issues on the Bill of Lading and take photos. Refuse severely damaged shipments.
    • Report Concealed Damage: Send photos/videos within 24 hours of delivery to our support email.
    • Installation Deadlines:
      • Category A: Install within 10 days
      • Category B: Install within 7 days
      • Category C: Install within 3 days
      • (Missed deadlines void warranty)


    6. Warranty & Returns

    • Category A: 60-day warranty, returns allowed with 15% restocking fee, customer pays return shipping, core must be in original condition.
    • Category B: 30-day warranty, returns allowed with 20% restocking fee, customer pays return shipping, core must be in original condition.
    • Category C: 14-day warranty, no returns (all sales final), cores accepted in any condition.


    7. Damage Claims & Liability

    • Declared Value Coverage is your primary protection. We handle the claim process but are not responsible for carrier negligence.
    • Claims must be reported within 24 hours with supporting evidence.
    • Carriers may take 30–60 days to resolve claims.
    • Without coverage, compensation is limited to $0.50 per pound (e.g., $150 for a 300-lb engine).


    8. Address Changes & Cancellations

    • Address Changes: Notify us immediately. Changes after crating/shipping may incur $200+ fees.
    • Cancellations:
      • Within 1 hour of payment: Full refund
      • After crating begins: $120 crating fee is non-refundable
